Staging is an important part of the home selling process. Here’s why.
When it comes to staging your home to sell, here are the four D’s you need to remember:
1. Distance yourself. Even though you’ve had a ton of memories in your home, now’s the time to offer it as a product for others to purchase. Prepare your home for its new owners.
2. Depersonalize. The photos hanging over your mantle and fridge need to come down and make space for others to visualize their family’s photos in its place.
“It’s important to prepare your home for its new owners.”
3. Declutter. We all have a lot of stuff. I get it. It’s important to get as many items out of the home as possible to allow buyers to see more of the home they’re buying. Start with items in plain sight, then move to drawers, cabinets, and closets.
4. Deep clean. It’s time for your home to shine again. A little bit of soap and elbow grease will help your home sparkle.
In the end, try to see your home through the eyes of the buyers. Notice any glaring issues and handle them before you start to show the home.
